What Makes the 2026 VW Tiguan a Winning SUV with Latinos

Hispanic consumers comprise almost 20% of the new vehicle market, wielding trillions in purchasing power. And that market is growing fast. So it made us at Volkswagen of Fairfield pretty proud to learn that our 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan compact SUV recently earned the nod from Puros Autos as the Latin Flavor Car of the Year award for best SUV.
According to Puros Autos, “The Latin Flavor Car of the Year awards highlight the growing purchasing power and preference of Hispanics for certain car models and brands by honoring the brands that have recognized this influence and adapted their marketing and product development strategies to better serve this demographic.”
The VW Tiguan’s designers put the focus on safety, sustainability and the driving experience – all qualities that Hispanic consumers (and, really, all consumers) are looking for. According to Puros, that’s particularly true of younger Latino shoppers, eager to demonstrate their upward mobility with “versatile vehicles that adapt to both urban life and family adventures.”
The 2026 VW Tiguan was cited for innovations including the infotainment system, wireless capability and voice recognition. The judges liked the increased standard driver assistance features that make it “among the safest and most connected SUVs in its class,” according to Puros.
The Tiguan received substantial upgrades with the 2025 model, including:
- Four trims: S, SE, SE R-Line Black, and a new SEL R-Line Turbo.
- Two engine variants: 2.0L TSI® 16-valve DOHC turbo 4-cylinder engine offering 201 hp and 207 lb-ft and 2.0L TSI® engine with 268 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.
- Estimated fuel economy 25/32 mpg city/highway for base engine with front-wheel drive and 21/29 mpg city/highway for the top model equipped with all-wheel drive.
- MIB3 Infotainment system with12.9” touchscreen and 10.3” driver’s display. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatible.
- Sound system includes seven speakers, 12-speaker Harman Kardon system available.
- Standard expanded driver assistance package with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-car traffic alert, lane maintenance assistance and adaptive cruise control.
- Priced beginning at $30,805 plus destination charge.
Of course we’re proud that the 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan has won this prestigious recognition from Puros Autos, but we know that our compact Tiguan SUV is designed to appeal to any consumer: It’s gorgeous to look at, fun to drive, gets great gas mileage and holds all the cargo that you need.
