VW’s Family-Friendly, Award-Winning Compact SUV: The 2026 Tiguan

Finding the best car to fit your family’s needs is a tall order. There are so many choices and so many priorities: safety, efficiency, convenience. Fortunately, there are helpers, which is why Volkswagen of Fairfield is proud to announce that the 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan has received Good Housekeeping’s “Best Family Car Award” in the Compact SUV segment.

For its Best Family Cars Awards, GH partnered with the experts at venerable automobile reviewer Car and Driver to combine both data and family feedback. Months went into test driving and evaluations of vehicles’ every aspect: “They evaluated safety, comfort, cargo space, innovation, and more while navigating city streets, rural roads, highways, and everything in between. From carpools and commutes to road trips and errands, we checked how well these cars would deliver to meet family needs.”

The 2026 VW Tiguan got love for “European flair” and its fun driving experience. The Tiguan has ample space for five, premium materials, and “contemporary infotainment functionality.” Plus, it offers good cargo space, a huge center screen, massaging seats, excellent connectivity, and more. According to the GH tester, the Tiguan is “very well thought-out and intuitive,” and “aggressive enough that it’s fun to drive, yet it’s comfortable enough to drive daily.” 

In its third generation, the 2026 Tiguan comes in four trim levels, beginning at $30,805 MSRP. It’s available as front-wheel or with 4MOTION® all-wheel drive. Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE® technology, multiple USB-C fast chargers, three-zone climate control, heated rear seats, and KESSY® keyless access with proximity lock/unlock and an available power liftgate with optional hands-free Easy Open/Ease Close

The Tiguan is available with two engine variants: a turbocharged 201-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a new, 268-hp version in the top-trim SEL R-Line Turbo that does zero-to- 60mph in 6.7 seconds, in Car and Driver tests. A hybrid Tiguan will be available soon. The EPA’s formal fuel economy rating is for 25 mpg combined city/highway.
