Volkswagen Celebrates a Special Anniversary: 75 Years in the U.S.

Making it to a 75th anniversary is a real accomplishment. And that’s why Volkswagen is making 2024 into a year-long celebration of its anniversary in America. 

The iconic VW Type 1: “The Beetle” arrived in New York on January 17, 1949 – 75 years ago. And in that time, Volkswagen vehicles have become huge cultural icons. Volkswagen wants to share the celebration with YOU.

Throughout the year, VW will shine the spotlight on people, products, and places that have played a part in its American journey. Among them will be a return to that equally iconic Big Game (you know the one?). 

You can get a glimpse of what’s in store in several teasers on various social media. Hopefully, you’ll want to share them with your network. The first one was posted on Volkwagen’s Instagram account on the anniversary, January 17th.

Our past is a great story, but the future looks even brighter with new vehicles that would make the Beetle – or the equally iconic VW Bus – blush with envy. We have amazing new electric vehicles, the ID.4 and ID.Buzz (echoing the Bus), and some equally useful gas-powered rides, like the Tiguan and Atlas SUVs.
