It’s New! It’s Improved! Volkswagen Reveals its Show-Stopping 2027 Atlas

It’s official! Volkswagen has revealed its all-new Atlas SUV. It was a highlight of the recent New York Auto Show. 

What makes this important is that it’s the first time in almost 10 years that the Atlas has gotten a substantial glow-up, and the results are pretty show-stopping. 

The 2027 Volkswagen Atlas three-row SUV is designed to compete against an array of competitors, and consumers will be the beneficiaries. The 2027 Atlas will come to our Fairfield showroom this fall with more power, more fuel efficiency and some goodies like interior upgrades and standard driver-assist technologies. We may have to wait a couple of years for a hybrid version, but expect a two-row version next year. 

2027 Volkswagen Atlas Highlights

• Powered by a 2.0-liter turbo inline four, with slightly more power – 282 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque and maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. AWD is available.
• Size remains similar to previous Atlas – just an inch longer with other dimensions the same. 
• The designers have given the Atlas a boxier and more muscular-looking exterior, including 18-inch wheels (base) or 20 and 21 inches (higher trims) and redesigned front and rear lighting. Break out of black/charcoal/silver/white color rut with Blackberry, Sacramento Green and Sandstone. Interior colors are pebble grey,  black and dark grey, and dark wine.
• Luxury touches abound, including ambient lighting, wood trim, leather seats on higher trims as well as 12-way power seats with four-way lumbar support and optional massaging front seats, ample storage space, power liftgate, rear sunshades, available panoramic sunroof and second-row captain’s chairs. 
• Infotainment screen sizes are generous: 12.9 inches on base model, huge 15.0-inch screens on upper trims. Standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ with nine-speaker audio system (14-speaker Harman Kardon stereo on top trims). Wireless charging pads are also available. AI-enabled voice assistant.
• The 2027 VW Atlas is equipped with lots of safety and driver-assistance features, including standard auto emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring and lane-keeping assist, and front/rear parking distance warning. Available adaptive cruise control. VW’s IQ.DRIVE semi-autonomous driving system allows driver-directed lane changing. Available Park Assist Driver Assistance feature helps find, enter and exit a parking space.

The Atlas has been one of Volkswagen’s top sellers, and we expect that the 2027 Volkswagen Atlas will only enhance its standing. Plan now to come and see it at VW of Fairfield when it hits our showroom next fall.
