A Buzz-y Award for VW’s New Electric Bus, the ID.Buzz

History (sort of) repeats itself with the 2025 Volkswagen ID.Buzz. This reimagining of the iconic VW Bus is rocking the automotive world, and winning big awards along the way. Parents, the respected family publication, recently named it the Best 3-Row SUV/Van in its 2025 Parents Best Family Cars awards.

A panel of family automotive experts inspected and tested more than 180 vehicles to come up with its favorites across myriad categories. Their assessment of the 2025 VW ID.Buzz is that “This is the minivan that will change minivans forever, though VW begs us not to call it a minivan; it’s a bus with sliding rear doors.”

The ID.Buzz is also a revolutionary all-electric vehicle with two engine options, either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, with seating for either seven or eight, and great visibility. It also comes in an array of gumball colors or its Wrapmate custom graphics so you can choose your look to match your personality.

Going all-electric is easy with charging from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes using a fast charger, or overnight at home. The EPA estimates ID.Buzz’s range at 234 miles for the RWD version or 231 miles for the AWD version. Speed? How about zero-60 mph in 6 seconds with AWD.

Safety and convenience are built in to the 2025 ID.Buzz with Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE® and Driver Assistance technology, designed to keep you and your passengers as safe as possible.

Inside you’ll find four sets of child car seat latches, removable third row seats as well as a removable front center console. Cargo room is huge: 145.5 cubic feet with the second row folded down and third row removed.

The available Harman Kardon sound system will play your favorites. The Plus Nav EV gives you access to continuously updated traffic, routes and parking info, while Plus Speech EV allows you to control the VW ID.Buzz with conversational language, so you can concentrate on driving instead.

You may remember the VW Microbus of the ‘50s and ‘60s as being pretty basic. Not the 2025 ID.Buzz, of which the Parents experts enthused: Many standard features feel extra, including massaging front seats, leatherette upholstery, and heated second row. Options include a retractable trailer hitch and a massive optional sunroof that can shift from clear to opaque with the swipe of a finger.”
